Will Crunches Burn Fat?

Many people still believe that if they perform ab exercises they will get a flat tummy. To this day I still hear people saying that they do 100 or more crunches a day but still can’t see there abs, and those TV infomercials make this “myth” even worse!.
The truth is the only way to get a flat stomach is to strip away the fat around the midsection. This can only be accomplished by eating healthy foods, cutting out high fat, sugar and refined and processed carbohydrates, increasing muscle mass to increase metabolism, as well as performing cardio training to help burn calories.
Ab training or as it is now known today as “core” training can certainly help to improve and strengthen muscles in your belly; however you will never see the ab muscles unless the fat in this region is stripped away.

Michael Carla: People trying to lose weight often say they’ve had limited or no success following the 20-20-60 diet. Consumer magazines praise the “high-protein low-carbohydrate” diet as a panacea for the American weight problem. Your views?

Dr. Shike: These “high-protein, low-carbohydrate” diets have not been proven to be safe or effective in the long run. We know, for example, that high-protein diets may be harmful to the kidneys, and are associated with calcium loss, which can result in bone problems. Read more…


Density Bodyweight Workout

Density training is without a doubt the most challenging method of training you will ever try. I always perform some sort of Density workout on Mondays after a weekend of lots of food and yesterday was no different. I decided to workout with one of my clients who had a binge of a weekend. He felt really bloated after his binge and therefore i suggested a Density Bodyweight workout.

Gary has been a client of mine for almost 3 years and he is always keen to try new methods. In fact i sometimes use him as my Ginny pig. I have put Gary through many Density workouts, but yesterday i decided to change it a bit and we are both paying for it today.

The workout as you can see below seems simple, but, give it a try and let me know how YOU feel after and a day later.

Fitness Motivation – Change Your Mindset

The problem with being fixed in your mindset is that you remain content with everything including your failures because you are too afraid to step out of your comfort zone. Your mindset is so powerful that it can hold you back from achieving things in your life.

We all want change. Right?

Well, wanting and thinking about change is not enough. You have to commit, and commitment can’t be only in your mind, you have to commit with an action. Once you take action, the magic starts and so does a shift in your mindset.

Here is a true story for you from a woman who was 40 pounds overweight:

For years I was 40 pounds overweight, but I didn’t want to really see it. If I did try a diet it was just to support a friend or spouse who was trying to lose. Finally, I realized I needed to lose weight for me, but just thinking that didn’t work.

After various “tries” with different weight loss methods, I finally “got it.” I realized that I not only needed to want to lose weight for me, but I had to work for it. I found a weight loss program and followed it! I also started off slowly, but began working exercise into my routine. It wasn’t easy, but once I made one small change and took action – starting taking short walks at lunch instead of taking a nap in my car – I knew I was headed in the right direction.

Once I took action, it took me less than a year to lose 40 pounds. By that time, I already had the actions (eating right and exercising regularly) as part of my life and my mindset had changed. I wasn’t just dieting, I was living a healthy lifestyle. I was able to keep those 40 pounds off (give or take 5 pounds) for three years. I recently slipped up and gained back ten of those pounds, but instead of just letting things go, I faced the issue and have started to refocus my efforts. In four weeks, I have lost five of those added ten pounds. Thanks to my previous change in mindset, getting back on track wasn’t as difficult.
